Benly J-type
1953
89cc, 1-cylinder, 4-cycle, OHV. 3.8hp@6,000rpm
Launched in August 1953, the Benly J-type featured a unique engine-swingarm see-saw arrangement where the engine was connected directly to the rear swingarm and rocked back and forth accordingly! But this led to carburettor problems and the arrangement was discontinued on the next model.
This was the first model to be named Benly. Meaning convenient, the name went on to be used on many models including today, the 2020 Honda Benly all-electric scooter.
