491cc, 52-degree liquid-cooled V2 SOHC with shaft-drive.
Replacing the CX500 from 1983 the VT500 was a common name for the family of Honda motorcycles sharing the VT500 inline V-twin engine. Launched at the Cologne motorcycle show in September 1982, this model was produced with various designations for different countries, such as Ascot, Shadow and Euro.
The VT500 engine was also the base for the later Honda NTV, NT, VRX and XLV engines ranging from 400 to 750cc.
